A typical video analysis session looks like this. First, your coach will start the Zoom video call session and get a bit of background about your surf experience and goals. Next, we will quickly run through all the video footage you have sent us and ask you to point out anything specific you would like to address. After your session we will follow up with an email outlining the most important points we discussed.
We will then go through the videos a second time in more detail. Your coach will identify areas of your technique that need adjusting. We will explain how to make those adjustments and why they will improve your surfing. Also, we will suggest how to focus on making these adjustments while surfing and ideas for practicing them on land.
After your session we will follow up with an email outlining the most important points we discussed.

Even if you don’t have photos or videos of your surfing, we can often figure out what technique adjustments you need from a simple conversation. We can also review videos of your pop-up on land.
We will:
- Discuss what you want to improve and ask you specific questions to get to the bottom of what is preventing you from getting there.
- Explain how to make those adjustments and why they will improve your surfing.
- Suggest how to focus on making these adjustments while surfing and ideas for practicing them on land.

How Can Online Surf Coaching Help You?
Progressing in surfing is about more than just spending time in the water. In order to efficiently progress, you need to understand what you are already doing and what you can do to get to the next level. We have a deep understanding of the specific body mechanics that make each surfing maneuver possible. This deep understanding allows us to pinpoint exactly which movements lead to success versus which movements lead to undesired outcomes.
During our coaching sessions we will: 1) discuss what your goals are, 2) identify the movements or habits that are preventing you from achieving those goals, 3) describe the changes in your movements you should make, 4) explain why these changes will lead to a better result, and 5) suggest how to practice these in the water and on land if possible.
